Born in Ohio and raised in Pennsylvania, Anita graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from Manchester College in 1979. In that year, she
began working in public accounting with a local firm which was later acquired by a national accounting firm.
Anita joined Greenwalt Sponsel & Co., Inc. as a manager in 1985 and became a partner in January 1989. She is the Director in charge of Audit and Other
Assurance Services for the Firm. In addition to her general practice and financial consulting responsibilities, she also is the Director of the Firm’s
Construction Services Group. Anita is a past chair and current member of the Audit and Accounting Committee and Peer Review Committee and past chair of
the Construction and Real Estate Committee of CPA Associates International, Inc. She also performs peer reviews on other CPA firms.
Anita is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Indiana CPA Society. She is a past chairperson of the Ethics Committee,
Audit and Accounting Committee and during 2008 will complete her service as Chairperson and board member of the Indiana CPA Society.
Anita previously served on the board of Westview Hospital and has been involved in the United Way of Central Indiana, serving on the Board of Directors and
as chair of the Allocation process. Anita served as Treasurer for the United Airlines Relocation Program (a joint effort between the Indianapolis Economic
Development Corporation, Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors and Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis). She also has served on the
Manchester College Alumni Association Board and a member of the Board of Directors and Finance Committee for the Central Indiana Council on Aging
(CICOA).
In October 1995, Anita was nominated from among all Indiana CPAs and received the Public Service Award from the Indiana CPA Society. She received the
1996 Public Service Award from the American Institute of CPAs.
